Back in the days of flash Thebar.com was created to serve as a digital hub for all of Diageo's portfolio of brands. Beer, wine and spirits were all represented at the core and on the surface a virtual bartender acted as the gateway to content.
My time on this client was as a member of the original pitch team that won the account and then later as the creative lead for new content and updates.
The world first bartender? No. The world's first virtual bartender? Maybe. What's a definite yes is that Thebar.com created something special with Jack. As time went on he had to remain fresh and new and the content around him had to be spot on.
Exclusive content, early warnings, live music ticket discounts, etc. That's what visitors to Thebar.com got once we struck a deal with Livenation. This all came to life in the Connections section created specifically for promotional content.
Who doesn't like receiving a gift? Especially a gift in luxurious liquid form. So, with the help of a partnership with 877spirits.com we created an ordering and delivery engine.
With the launch of Thebar.com came a simple drink recipe library. By the time I was done with it, it was a database of over a thousand drink recipes. The new design came complete with search, rating, save and recommendation functionality.
Diageo's portfolio of brands grows each year. With each new brand came the need for new content. Luckily, it wasn't hard to continually create compelling things to say and show about beer, wine & spirits. That's exactly what I did.
